LEADER’S DEBATE TEXT

I AM DISAPPOINTED….AND, HONESTLY, I FEEL SOMEWHAT DEFEATED….A FEELING SOME THREE-POINT MILLION CANADIANS HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO FEEL THIS EVENING…AFTER WATCHING THE LEADERS DEBATE, TWO HOURS WE WILL NEVER GET BACK, I DIDN’T HEAR THE D WORD ONCE…NOTHING…IF THERE AREN’T RED FLAGS FLYING TONIGHT, THERE IS A BIG ISSUE…BECAUSE THERE ARE 3 POINT 8 MILLION CANADIANS WITH DISABILITIES….WITH REAL ISSUES….HOUSING. EMPLOYMENT.  EDUCATION. INCOME SUPPORT AND MORE. YET, THE SIX PARTY LEADERS FAILED MISERABLY TO DISCUSS IT. I DID NOT HEAR THE WORD DISABILITY ONCE. FEEL FREE TO FIRE ME AN EMAIL IF YOU THINK I AM WRONG. BUT, IF THIS IS INDEED CORRECT, THE FINGER POINTING BEGINS RIGHT NOW. AND, THE LEADERS OF PARTIES AREN’T THE ONLY ONES WHO NEED TO FACE THE MUSIC. CANADIANS WITH DISABILITIES, AND SPECIFICALLY THOSE GROUPS WHO, SUPPOSEDLY, REPRESENT DISABILITY NEED TO TILT THE WASHROOM MIRROR. AND TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THEMSELVES. CLEARLY, THE BALL HAS BEEN DROPPED. IN A COUNTRY WITH MULTIPLE WAYS OF COMMUNICATING, THE LACK OF DISCUSSION ON DISABILITY IS, FRANKLY, INEXCUSABLE. GROUPS  AND ASSOCIATIONS WORKING ON BEHALF OF CANADIANS WITH DISABILITIES SHOULD HANG THEIR HEADS IN SHAME. BECAUSE, TONIGHT, A YOUNG BABY WITH A DISABILITY WILL BE BORN. AND, SOMEONE WILL BECOME DISABLED IN A CRASH. AND, BY THE GODS OF WAR, THEY DESERVE A FUTURE OF PROMISE AND OPPORTUNITY. TONIGHT, I FAIL TO SEE THAT.
