THE STORY. BEHIND THE STORY.
Cam Tait’s latest interactive presentation hits all the right notes! It is informative, humorous, enlightening, inspiring and touches his audience in many ways. It makes you appreciate what you have, encourages you to think about who has helped you achieve your dreams and shows you that laughter allows you to meet challenges with grace and dignity. Cam uses hockey as an analogy to his life, starting from the moment he was born. My students are able to relate to him through these connections as they learn about penalties, power plays, team work, penalty kills and how Cam sees his life as a very important hockey game with amazing teammates.
When Cam talks about where his career as a journalist has led him they are impressed by the people he has interviewed. By the end they are able to see that as far as Cam is concerned his disability is a gift that has allowed him to make connections with a wide range of people. He has interviewed actors, musicians, politicians and athletes and is proud to call many of them friends.
Cam’s willingness to be a part of ICE School has enriched the lives of hundreds of students along with their teachers and parents. I love watching their faces as they realize he has a wonderful sense of humor and that they are allowed to laugh during what they thought would be a very serious time. By the end they are comfortable with Cam and very impressed with his positive outlook and success. It really does encourage them to believe that anything is possible! — Cheryl McLeod, I.C.E. Teacher
