AN UNFORGETTABLE WHISPER



Caroline Schwabe walked behind me after Saturday brunch on 76 Avenue. I live with cerebral palsy and, at times, can be difficult to understand.
Her husband of 30 years, Andreas Schwabe, pushed my wheelchair while we chatted.
“Sorry, Cam,” Andreas said after I made a comment about my grandson. “I didn’t catch that.”
Caroline quickly piped in. “Cam said he wants us to meet his grandson.”
And then, like a ton of bricks, it hit me, giving a lived experience of our two-hour conversation describing Caroline’s incredible life-changing tale. s
